Sans suffers from chronic insomnia because he always has nightmares about past events every time he falls asleep. Therefore, he had to spend his little free time resting in the morning, napping in the afternoon, and napping late at night. But overall he never sleeps more than three hours a day (Maintinance insomnia), and that's why he suffers so often that he accidentally hurts himself.
